It's important to have the right snacks on hand everyday for work to avoid crashing and avoid hunger that can cause us to make poor eating choices. Check out our list of easy and delicious snacks you can pack for lunch and munch on at your desk!
Peanut Butter and Pretzel Sticks
This is a sweet and salty snack sure to please. With this snack and lots of others, portions matter. Pay attention to the serving size on the nutrition label. Pair mini whole-grain pretzel sticks -- approximately 11 sticks or whatever the serving size suggests about (65 calories) -- with 1 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter. YUM!
Buy a bundle of celery sticks and cut them into pieces that you can easily portion out into ziplock baggies. Eat them with about a tablespoon of peanut butter or a couple tablespoons of hummus for a quick snack at your desk!
Air popped popcorn
Yeah that good old fashioned popcorn you make on your stove. You can salt it and season it to your preference and though it may take just a few minutes of your time, make a big batch and portion it out into small containers or paper bags. That way you have a crunchy salty snack at the office without the worry of popping or burning popcorn in the work microwave. Popcorn counts as a whole grain because it's high in fiber and low in calories. Just make sure you’re not covering it in loads of melted butter. Change up boring plain popcorn by adding a dash of your fave low sodium hot sauce or adding a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top.
If you have a fridge at work frozen grapes is a great snack to have on hand. They are sweet and the perfect cold treat after a healthy well balanced lunch. Portion them out in small ziplock bags and bring a couple to work with you(don’t forget to put your name on them) because you know co workers wouldn’t resist snagging a bag for themselves. :)
Hard Boiled Eggs
Prepare a big batch of hard boiled eggs on a Sunday to have on hand for the week. These pack a ton a protein and healthy fats to keep you going throughout your day. Slice eggs in half and drizzle about a teaspoon of Sriracha or a tablespoon of your favorite salsa for a spicy and healthy snack!
